🔋 AGM vs EFB vs SLI Battery Selector¶
Answer three questions to see which automotive battery technology fits your vehicle, with the reasoning behind the recommendation.
:material-help-circle: Frequently Asked Questions¶
What is the difference between AGM, EFB, and SLI batteries?¶
SLI is a conventional flooded starting battery. EFB is an enhanced flooded battery with additives and stronger plates for basic start-stop vehicles. AGM absorbs the electrolyte in a glass mat, giving a sealed design with faster recharge and deeper-cycle tolerance.
Which battery technology does a start-stop vehicle need?¶
Basic start-stop systems usually use EFB, while aggressive start-stop or systems with regenerative braking typically require AGM because of the higher cycling and charge demands.
Can I install an AGM battery in a conventional car?¶
Yes. AGM is safe and often improves durability and cold-cranking performance, but it costs more than the SLI battery the vehicle may not strictly need.
Does climate affect the technology choice?¶
Climate mainly affects the CCA and heat rating you choose. Cold climates favor high-CCA AGM batteries, hot climates favor AGM's heat tolerance, and EFB offers good start-stop value in moderate conditions.
Can Chengguang supply all of these technologies?¶
Chengguang manufactures a standard SLI range plus Heavy Duty models, and offers EFB and AGM on request for OEM supply.
